HOLIDAY LITERACY TIP

Are you ready for the long holiday break? I remember when my sons were little. To keep them engaged with literacy over the break could be a challenge. Of course, playing with toys was at the top of the list. But they loved to eat which made this activity a big hit in our home.

TIP: USE COOKING TO SUPPORT LITERACY

Even though your child may be too young to operate the stove, there are plenty of ways to have fun with literacy and food.

  • read the recipe

  • gather the ingredients

  • measure the ingredients

  • keep track of the cooking time

  • write about the experience in journal

  • eat and enjoy

Whether it's baking cookies, making spaghetti, or whatever the favorite food is, be sure to have fun . The goal is to keep your child engaged with literacy and create precious memories along the way.

Try it!

Until next time, I wish you love, laughter and, literacy!
