August Adventure Roadtrip

Updated: Sep 15

After months of pouring my heart, energy, and imagination into finishing my third book in the Lizzie B. Hayes series, I felt an incredible sense of accomplishment and a little bit of exhaustion, too. Writing a book is a beautiful process, but it’s also one that requires focus, long hours, and lots of creative energy. Once I typed that final line and set the manuscript aside, I knew it was time to pause, breathe, and recharge before jumping into the exciting whirlwind of prelaunch.

So, in August, I packed my bags, turned up the music, and hit the road for a much-needed road trip.

The Power of Stepping Away

For me, travel is more than just a change of scenery, it’s a reset button. Driving down open highways, exploring new towns, and spending time with loved ones reminded me why rest is so important. Creative work thrives on balance, and sometimes the best way to prepare for the next big season is by giving yourself permission to step away.

Inspiration Everywhere

Along the journey, I found myself noticing little details that sparked new ideas: a colorful mural in a small town, a bookstore tucked away on a quiet street, and even snippets of conversation overheard at a diner. Those moments reminded me that stories are everywhere we just have to pause long enough to notice them.

Preparing for What’s Next

As the miles rolled by, I also found clarity and excitement about what’s ahead. This road trip wasn’t just about rest; it was about refocusing. Now, with my energy restored, I’m thrilled to dive into preparing for the prelaunch of Lizzie B. Hayes on a Mission. I can’t wait to share this new chapter with readers, teachers, and families who have been on this journey with me.

A Gentle Reminder for You

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is take a step back. Whether it’s a road trip, a weekend staycation, or simply a quiet afternoon with a good book, giving yourself space to breathe can reignite your energy and creativity.

Just like Lizzie Hayes learns lessons of balance and self-discovery, I was reminded that we, too, need moments to recharge. My August road trip gave me the fresh perspective I needed to step confidently into this next season and I’m so excited to bring you along for the ride.
