Meet Kathryn P. Carter, M.Ed.
The World's Only Readologist®
Kathryn P. Carter is a lifelong educator, literacy advocate, TEDx speaker, and award-winning children’s author. With over three decades of experience spanning public and private education, Kathryn has dedicated her career to transforming how children read, learn, and see themselves.
As a former K-12 Director of Language Arts and Testing, Kathryn understands the mechanics of literacy from the classroom to the district level. Today, she combines her deep pedagogical expertise with her passion for storytelling to bridge the gap between academic requirement and the pure joy of reading.

Why Literacy Matters Now More Than Ever
We are facing a quiet crisis in literacy. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the percentage of nine-year-olds who read for fun daily has plummeted from 53% in 2012 to just 39% in 2022.
Furthermore, the National Literacy Trust reports that only 1 in 3 children enjoy writing in their free time. When reading and writing, deeply connected skills, are viewed as drudgery rather than a delight, children miss out on the fundamental benefits required for academic and professional success. Without expert-led programs that engage the whole child, our youth remain underprepared for life beyond the classroom.
The Solution: Rockstar Reader University™ Beyond the Book
To combat these declining trends, Kathryn created Rockstar Reader University™. This signature program equips parents, schools, and organizations with the strategies needed to foster high-quality literacy experiences.
By addressing the academic, social, and emotional needs of children ages 8-12, Rockstar Reader University™ enables students to rediscover the joy of literacy, becoming lifelong learners ready to lead in the 21st century.
